A few years back, there have been doubts that anyone would ever see Judas Priest up on stage ever again. 2011-2012’s “Epitaph” tour was intended to be the group’s final world tour together. But with a new album that just came out over the summer, the ‘Redeemer of Souls’ tour will have the band criss-crossing all over the world into August of next year. Seems like retirement will have to wait.
This past Wednesday, the band christened the newly opened PPL Center and dove headfirst into the set with the new disc’s opener, “Dragonaut”. Other new songs mixed within the set included the very well-received “Halls of Valhalla,” “March of the Damned,” and the album’s title track, “Redeemer of Souls.”
The set list was also packed with familiar favorites like “Turbo Lover,” “Jawbreaker” and “Breaking the Law” during the main set, and then Halford famously riding his Harley on stage for “Hell Bent for Leather,” “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’,” “Livin’ After Midnight” and “Defenders of the Faith” wrapping up the two encores for the night.
Setlist: Dragonaut Metal Gods Devil's Child Victim of Changes Halls of Valhalla Love Bites March of the Damned Turbo Lover Redeemer of Souls Beyond the Realms of Death Jawbreaker Breaking the Law Hell Bent for Leather Encore: You've Got Another Thing Comin' Living After Midnight Defenders of the Faith
