This afternoon, Tigers Jaw keyboardist/ vocalist, Brianna Collins, announced via the band’s Tumblr page that Adam, Pat and Dennis has left the band:
“After our show in Scranton two weeks ago, Adam, Pat, and Dennis let Ben and I know that for personal reasons they are unable to do Tigers Jaw anymore. This was a surprise for the both of us, but everyone is on good terms, and we respect and support them and their decisions.
A full band Tigers Jaw lineup (consisting of Ben and I with the help of some talented friends) will be doing a full US tour in May-June as well as the UK dates of the previously announced tour with the Menzingers in August. We regret to announce that we will have to cancel the mainland Europe dates. We apologize to the promoters, venues, and anyone who bought tickets.
These are likely to be the last Tigers Jaw tours for the foreseeable future. US tour dates will be announced soon. Thanks.”
– Brianna
This is rather upsetting news as all of us here were massive fans of these guys and have watched their careers grow over the years through the local scene.
The announcement their dissolution is also surprising since Topshelf Records/ Run For Cover Records have just announced the release of the four-way split between The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die, Code Orange Kids, Self Defense Family & Tigers Jaw. The record features a track from each band and will be released via Topshelf Records / Run For Cover Records on April 23, 2013 (with each label having an exclusive, limited variant of the record available).
Might as well pre-order now since this might possibly the very last Tigers Jaw release.
