Shirts For A Cure is campaigning to re-release their founder, Mark Beemer’s photography book, Stealing Time: 23 Years of Punk Images.
“Mark has been a regular fixture on the hardcore and punk scenes for over two decades, and has photographed such renowned bands as Fugazi, The Bouncing Souls, My Chemical Romance, and Rise Against. In addition to being a staple on the punk scene, Mark is also the Founder of the Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE), which provides financial assistance to underprivileged women battling breast cancer. In 2002, SSE launched Shirts For A Cure to give voice to the social concerns of punk bands and their many fans as well as to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention. Currently, Shirts For A Cure features 150 t-shirts designed by bands including Man Overboard, Motion City Soundtrack, Miss May I, Strike Anywhere, Title Fight, and Yellowcard. All proceeds from the sale of the re-release of Stealing Time will go directly to SSE. We need your help to fund the printing of this incredible collection of images from the past 20 years so that music lovers and breast cancer supporters alike can experience the energetic, spirited images that Mark captured over the span of his celebrated career. Furthermore, sharing these images with the world will allow SSE to continue to reach so many underprivileged women and provide them with the financial resources they need to access life-saving cancer treatments.”
I was lucky enough to pick up a first run copy of this book and it was what inspired me to start shooting shows. I highly recommend grabbing a copy if this does get reprinted (which it can with your help!)
