What do you do when you have a ‘Top 40’ hit song on the Billboard charts and a certified gold single? You go celebrate with a national tour! On Tuesday April 10th Breathe Carolina, which is comprised of David Schmitt and Kyle Even, rolled into Allentown’s Crocodile Rock and brought their brand of electronic rock to the club.

Their performance was a mix between a rock show and a rave. Somewhere between the fog, the line begins to blur. As a technicolor light show filled the club, the audience went wild as the duo, along with their 3 man backing band tore through songs off of the recent release Hell is What You Make It which came out last June and their 2009 sophomore release Hello Fascination. In between “Edge of Heaven” and “I.D.G.A.F.” they threw in their mix of “First of the Year (Equinox)” by Skrillex which threw the crowd into a wild frenzy.

Towards the end of “They Say You Won’t Come Back,” David took a spill off the edge of the stage that ended up knocking the wind out of him. The show stopped briefly as he recovered. “Shit happens. The show must go on!” he shouted as they finished their set with their chart topping hit (and now very appropriate) “Blackout.”

Overall the concert was a delightful surprise as I have never seen them live before. The visuals complimented their songs perfectly as the duo traded verses and connected with the audience every chance they could. These guys truly know how to put on a good show and their crowds will likely keep growing. You can catch Breathe Carolina this summer as they have been confirmed to be playing the main stage all throughout the Vans’ Warped Tour and I look forward to seeing them again!

UPDATE:
The injuries Dave sustained from the fall resulted in a broken rib and a fractured sternum. But it’s ok because he’s indestructible!
