Welcome to July, everyone! With all of these releases being due out the day after the 4th of July, there is a good chance that a lot of you will still be stuffed from your weekend barbecues and in no mood to actually be productive members of society. Perhaps you stayed up late watching/playing with all of the fireworks that the fine state of Pennsylvania has to offer. If that sounds like you, why not consider the following options on DVD?
- Hobo With A Shotgun – The title says it all. If you want to see Rutger Hauer as a homeless man with a firearm in an ultra-violent grindhouse-inspired B-movie, this has your name written all over it.
- 13 Assassins – A samurai epic from the producer of ‘Departures,’ the 2009 winner of the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award. This centers on a group of samurai who are hired to take down an evil lord in Feudal Japan.
- Of Gods and Men – A French film that centers on the true story of monks who are kidnapped and killed during the Algerian Civil War.
- Bloodrayne: The Third Reich – Uwe Boll is at it again. He directs the third installment in the ‘Bloodrayne’ series. This time, Rayne is killing vampire Nazis and trying to stop a plot that would grant Hitler immortality. Obviously the series is going to focus on vampires and it’s usually a safe bet that audiences won’t mind if you kill hundred Nazis in a movie, but really? Then again, it’s Uwe Boll, so why is anyone surprised?
All of these titles, and others, will available to rent/purchase in Allentown, the Lehigh Valley and beyond.
